What Happens When We Fail?

Everyone fails in one way or the other? Have you given in and caved when it came to your meal plan? Maybe you failed that big test that you studied all night for? Or, have you ever missed the game winning shot? When these failures occur our brains release cortisol which brings on many negative feelings.

So how do we get bounce back from a failure?

MENTAL TOUGHNESS! As humans we are resilient, when we have a goal and a purpose behind that goal there are very few things that can stop us from fulfilling our dreams. That does not mean that we will not fail, and there will be times that we have doubt. Your mindset can drastically change what your chance of success is. If you give into the negative thoughts you become your own worst enemy, BUT a positive mindset will help drive you towards accomplishing anything you set out to do.

Okay, but how do I maintain a positive mindset?

The first step needs to be accepting that you will more than likely have failures, and you need to teach yourself to look at failures as opportunities to grow. Don't believe me? There is countless amounts of information about top-tier business owners who had their first few businesses fail, professional athletes not making their High School Varsity teams, and inspirational stories of people who have had uncontrollable "failures" that they have fought through and overcome. All of these people say the same things, their failures brought out light and taught them lessons that they wouldn't have learned otherwise. There are many techniques to gain mental toughness and focus, we will cover these in a future post. So for right now, look inside yourself and ask: "How do I look ay my failures? Do I dwell on them and feel sorry for myself, or do I look at them as learning opportunities and hurdles I can overcome?"

What is holding you back?
